Dr. Ashokbabu Raamya graduated from the Ragas Dental College and hospital in Chennai, India in 1994. He practiced general dentistry for five years before moving to Canada. After migration, he successfully completed the National Dental Examining Board of Canada program in the year 2002. He practiced as a general dentist in Ontario for over 15 years before pursuing his interest in temporomandibular disorder (TMD) and orofacial pain. At the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester, New York, he completed the two-year post-graduate TMD/orofacial pain residency program. Dr. Raamya has also earned a master's degree in the health professions education at the University of Rochester, New York.
Dr. Raamya has published an article in the Ontario Dentist Journal in April 2018 based on a case report. Currently, he is working on publishing another research article about the reliability of panoramic radiographs in assessing TMDs. He is also a member of the Ontario Dental Association and the Indian Dental Association. Dr Raamya was a faculty in the department of Oral medicine/Oral diagnosis at the Western University-Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. His future interest is to start a dental study club where he can educate dental professionals about temporomandibular disorders and orofacial pain.
Along with his interest in managing TMD/orofacial pain patients, Dr. Raamya has shown interest over the past decade in Invisalign® treatments for correcting malocclusion, as well as dental implants.
Dr. Raamya has always been very much committed to continued education. He likes to spend his free time with his family and playing badminton.
